Origin

Mekong Delta,
Vietnam

We buy only young Siam Dwarf coconuts from the delta. Young coconut means the water is clear, slightly sweet, with little of the oily note of older nuts. Harvested, opened, canned — in that order, with no detour via a concentrate plant.

“Siam” doesn’t mean Thailand here

Siam Dwarf is a coconut variety, not an origin claim. In Vietnam it’s called Dừa Xiêm and has grown in the delta for generations. Our nuts come from Vietnam — that’s what it says on the can, too.

About us

The story
of Coconami

We founded Coconami because no coconut water on the shelf tasted right to us. Most of it is remixed from concentrate, stretched with water or heated until nothing of the taste is left. We wanted the water you get when someone cracks open a young coconut for you on the beach — and nothing else.

That search led us to the Mekong Delta, to young Siam Dwarf coconuts and to partners who fill right after harvest instead of concentrating. One ingredient, one can, one size. Everything else we left out.

Why “Coconami”?

Coco for the coconut, Nami — 波 — is Japanese for wave. You’ll find the wave everywhere: in the pattern on the can, in the waterline on this page. Coconut water like a wave that catches you on the beach.
